The U.S Travel Association has called on Congress to pass a hurricane relief bill before Thanksgiving.  In a November 1st letter to the leaders of Congress, association president Geff Free estimates the total damages caused by hurricanes Helene and Milton to be over $100 billion.  That doesn’t include follow-on impacts on travel, visitor spending, hotel bookings, tax revenues and employment.  In his letter Freeman stated that “It is crucial for Congress to jumpstart recovery” with the relief funds, urging Congress to act before Thanksgiving “to help these communities recover and avoid further economic damage.”   He stated  “Past hurricanes demonstrate that it takes an average of 6-12 months before travel spending returns to baseline levels.”
