The American Coastal Coalition (ACC) today announced it has saved its members as much as 65% on beach nourishment dredging costs, delivering tens of millions in savings to coastal communities and US taxpayers.

These results are the product of strategic advocacy by the ACC, which brought together congressional champions, coastal managers, and community stakeholders to demand greater transparency, competitiveness, and accountability in the dredging marketplace.

“Beach nourishment is essential to protect America’s coastal communities from erosion, storm surge, and long-term sea level rise,” said Dan Ginolfi, Executive Director of the American Coastal Coalition. “For many coastal communities, the cost of dredging has been the single greatest barrier to maintaining healthy beaches.”

Predictable and sustainable dredge pricing is key to the protection of our coastal communities nationwide. The ACC’s work to reduce beach nourishment costs has broad implications for shoreline protection, local economies, and the safety of coastal residents. The American Coastal Coalition will continue its advocacy to ensure that coastal communities receive affordable prices for beach nourishment and coastal protection projects nationwide.
