National Beach Restoration Campaign Supports Federal Funding - The SandPaper
The SandPaper's Gina G. Scala reported today on the American Coastal Coalition's #YEStoBeaches Campaign, the coastal challenges often overlooked by summer beachgoers, and the urgent need for federal funding.
“And every single year, there is at least one community that doesn’t get the sand it needs. That’s not really a good way to manage our coast. We really want to be proactive about building our beaches so we’re not responding post-storm; we’re building these things up at the right time and protecting those assets,” American Coastal Coalition's Executive Director, Dan Ginolfi, stated.
"The campaign calls on Congress to preserve and restore dedicated federal funding for beach nourishment and coastal protection projects. It officially ran through Labor Day, but its importance never goes away, Ginolfi said."
