In a letter to the Energy & Water Development Subcommittee, the American Coastal Coalition urged lawmakers to provide $200 million to the Army Corps of Engineers in FY27 to construct beach nourishment and coastal protection projects nationwide.

As hearings with the House Appropriations Committee are underway for a Fiscal Year 2027 budget and workplan, it is essential that sufficient funding is available for the Corps to complete all necessary coastal protection projects. With at least $200 million available, coastal communities can protect coastlines and infrastructure from storm damage and erosion without competing with other essential coastal protection projects.
