The American Coastal Coalition submitted testimony to the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee with comments on several proposed changes involving the US Army Corps of Engineers.

On December 8th, the American Coastal Coalition wrote to New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy asking why the state did not request disaster assistance from the US Army Corps of Engineers.

While the Senate's recent appropriations bill includes a "best case" figure of $62.2 million (a significant increase over the House's $23 million), this amount is $137.8 million below the American Coastal Coalition’s request for $200 million, which would fully fund the nation's beach nourishment projects in a typical year.

After Congress eliminated federal beach nourishment funding in the fiscal year 2025 budget, there is rising concern among Jersey Shore residents and local officials about how to pay for replenishment projects. Coastal towns are scrambling as lawmakers search for leftover dollars within the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ budget.

On October 23rd, 2025, ACC Member Ocean City, NJ declared a local state of emergency following major erosion of the town's beaches and dunes from recent coastal storms. "Many houses in New Jersey are equipped to deal with rising floodwaters, but they're not equipped to deal with wave attack. That's why the beaches are so important," said Dan Ginolfi, Executive Director of the American Coastal Coalition.
